Thank you for all this helpful info! I ended up purchasing some practice exams from your site! As I was watching you mentioned there was an app for medications you discovered, but I couldn’t find where the name of it was mentioned. Are you able to provide it? Thanks again!!
Thank you for contacting Lactation Education Resources. The lactmed app is no more. There is an Infant Risk app too, but we don't believe it's free at this time. We encourage you to check out our Exam Review Enriched course if you haven't already (www.lerqbank.com/). So the list from Pathway 2, those are schools that offer what exactly in regards to Lactation? Is it a Human lactation program? I think Im confused about that because I looked up the first school and searched Human Lactation and nothing came up so what exactly what I am looking for to even apply? Thank you.

Hi! I hope you ladies are still going strong in the lactation consult field! I'm in Shreveport, LA and I'm about to start my training course for IBCLC but I want to make sure I have my private practice stuff ready to go, I'd love to touch base if possible and get some clarification about the job, opportunities, and starting up a private practice! This was actually enjoyable to listen to and very informative especially me trying to relactate my 5month old thanks ladies
Still, this pathway is followed?
Amazing video. Great information! Definitely one to keep and refer back to. Thank you. Sekita you’re amazing! Do you mentor?
Just to be clear, can RNs and LPNs take pathway 2 if they have done the 95 hours with LER?
Thank you for commenting. Pathway 2 is only for people who take a LEAARC recognized course through an accredited university. Currently, there are only 8 in the US. If you are a nurse, especially working in maternal child, pathway 1 is best for you :)
@@LactationEducationResources thank you for replying.
Thank you so much for this! It has provided far more clarity than what I’ve been trying to acquire over time. After 8 years breastfeeding my children, I finally found something I’m passionate about. I want to assist families, especially those who lack access or have language barriers (Spanish/English) that complicate their nursing journeys. Now I know which pathway will work best for my situation, and look forward to learning more from this channel.

at 1:14:24 Sekeita says that breastfeeding is contraindicated if mom has CMV however just a minute earlier the other lecturer says that breastfeeding is encouraged with CMV as infants are usually aysmptomatic.
Thank you for your feedback. As Sekeita noted, there are very few maternal illnesses that would preclude lactation. Even HIV does not have a blanket prohibition against nursing, but instead decisions are made based on the individual dyad's risks and benefits. In the case of CMV, since we know how easily it passes into human milk, for fragile infants, it it more likely to be contraindicated. The chances of a sepsis like illness in premature and VLBW infants is substantially higher. This does not mean that the parent cannot eventually feed these infants their own milk once they are stable and healthy. The IBCLC would want to work with these parents to establish and maintain supply until that occurred.
I've really enjoyed watching Nikki & Nikki. It's been over a year since the last video. Will they be making more videos in the near future??
Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, Nikki & Nikki's content concluded in December 2021 so there won't be any more videos from them in the near future. Thanks

You're welcome. Have a great day!
So these courses I need, I have to do that through college? I'm already enrolled in one, but can I add these classes while I'm in school so that I can become IBCLC?

Hi ladies, you are all such an inspiration to me who want to become a lactation consultant. Thanks for the discussion. Here in UK there are low breastfeeding rates among African Heritage people, I want to help to change that ratio.

Hmmm I forgot what pathway it was I had done under in 2005 my IBClC I have been RN for 33yrs Worked in NICU for 29yrs Now I am working in mom baby as a substitute in lactation but I work at least 24 hrs a week Sometimes 30 and 40 hrs a week It varies I wonder which I should take Thank you for this video 🙏💗

Ok thank you 🙏
I had my IBCLC Did bring transformation in small formula fed community in Midwest Because of relocation I didn’t get to renew that was 12 yr ago it expired Being NICU RN for few decades Now Am trying to get my ibclc back I have enjoyed the most being a mom doing long term nursing than being NICU RN I love love love Lactstion I have been privileged to work in lactation already because of what I do to my mothers in Mom Baby unit I’m thankful to my work because of this opportunity to help mom and bring changes in their family Thank you for my your great work I am loving your channel Refreshing my knowledge I have loads of experience International international and I feel so confident in my Lactstion work Thank you for your work I would like to expand my work to the whole city not only in one hospital That’s my dream thank you
This is interesting. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and was wondering if pursuing the IBCLC credential would make since for me.
Thank you 🙏
What pathway would I take if I have a CLC?
You might want to consider Pathway 1 or 3. Our wonderful support team can help you assess the pathways specific to your situation! You can reach them at support@lactationtraining.com or 1-443-203-8553.
Hello ladies! I love these videos! I’ll be starting from zero! Which pathway do I need to start with? I’m guessing 2 right? I’m Hispanic and I’m eager to help my Hispanic community! Much love to all of you amazing humans 🥰
So happy to read this!! I'm looking forward to supporting my Latino/Hispanic community, too. Your pathway would depend on your access to families, mentorship and where you are in your education journey in order to apply. Pathway 2 seems great as it provides you with those hours and the learning. I looked into it but the program I saw was thousands of dollars. I will be doing pathway 3 with the guidance of my mentor who agreed to supervise me. Suerte!

Nope, anyone can become a CBS! Learn more at: www.lactationtraining.com/cbs-info
Does “and others” for recognized healthcare professions include registered dental hygienists?
Have you all found that insurance will cover IBCLCs that don’t have other medical credentials? I was trying to hunt around and it looked like a lot of them possibly won’t cover unless RN, NP, MD, DO, RD. It looked like a lot of them maybe don’t cover only IBCLC. 😐 which is super unfortunate
Is there a time limit on when the health science courses are from? I took some of these in undergrad, but that was 2005-2008 😬
